Journaling: The Last Quarter of the Year (A Journaling How-To) (Blessings Counted Journaling)

Journaling: The Last Quarter of the Year (A Journaling How-To) (Blessings Counted Journaling)
AKA End of Year Journaling
Written: 2014-10-02 09:52:01, Thursday

Here it is October 02, 2014 already.
Where has the year gone?
Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. (Gulp... Pause... Allowing that to sink in for a moment... Can you believe it? Another gulp.)
This is the time I look back and ask myself if I've accomplished this year what I wanted to accomplish.
Have I lived my word for the entire year? Mine was "Gratitude," or "Blessings," by the way.
And, another question comes to mind: What can I do to savage the year in the last three months? How can I make it count the most. You know--really make it count?
What have I accomplished?
What haven't I that I wanted to do this year?
How has my faith been this year?
How has my journaling been this year?
Have I lived a year of blessing and gratitude?
What blessings have I experienced and seen this year? This, in truth, is probably the most important question of them all.
Now, that I've figured it out, that last paragraph... The one before this one... This is what I want to do regarding the last nine months and the next three months. I want to count my blessings. I want to thank God for everything He has done in my life, in the lives around me, through my life, and in this world.
Is thanksgiving and blessings counting the secret to realize His grace is enough in my life (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 EXB)?
Stay tuned.
So, for you... What blessings have you had in your life this year? What blessings will you see in each moment for the rest of the year? Make sure to count all of your blessings--even the smallest and tiniest.
Why focus on the yuck of the year--unless you can turn it all into a blessing to be counted? And, that might be an exercise to do for the rest of the year. Take every yuck, ouch, hurt, etc. and figure out how to count it as a blessing.
Count all of your blessings, the good, the ugly, and the indifferent. Make sure to keep a list of all of your blessings from 2014.

The Impact of Journaling: Dealing with the Storms of Life

The Impact of Journaling: Dealing with the Storms of Life

Over the weekend, I met a couple who are going through a terrible storm in their lives and marriage. It would be something that would destroy most of us. It's one of those nightmare stories you cannot even fathom. And, you know there is no way you would be able to handle it.

This couple, though, is doing amazing. Truly. Deeply.

First of all, they are people of faith. That explains their strength, hope, and incredible perspective.

I had the opportunity to talk with the wife for a bit and found out how not only is she a woman of faith, but she journals.

Aha! That explained more of it.

Journaling impacts us deeply and powerfully. Often tiems, we do not realize how much of a difference it has made in our lives until we go through the rough patch. Then, it becomes obvious.

I cannot tell you how many storms and rough patches I've gone through with my journal. I have no idea how I would have been able to do so without my journal and my journaling. Journaling ahs made all fo the difference.

The wife said to me how her journaling ahs been the very thing that has helped her.

There are days it may seem like journaling is pointless,a nd you're not getting much out of it. However, the opposite is true.

Jouranling, like weight loss, is something you do not get instant results all the time. Rather, it takes endurance and eventually, slowly, you start to see the results. And, when you do, the results can be truly mindblowing.

If you want to know the impact of journaling, let me say this: It's a life saver. Literally.

What Do You Journal When You Are Blank?

What Do You Journal When You Are Blank? What About When You Dont Know Where or How to Begin?

I've journaled for thirty-two years or so and there are times I am blank and simply don't have a clue what to journal for whatever reason. It happens. Today is one of those days.

So, what do you do when this happens?

There are many things you can do. Here are a few ideas:

-- Start with writing out the question: How am I?

-- Start with writing out the question: What's new?

-- List three of your blessings.

-- List three things that have happened, or you have noticed, in the last 24 hours (that you haven't already journaled about).

-- List three memories.

-- What if?

-- I wish...

-- I feel...

-- I think...

Writing and Journaling Tips and Hints {Writing Notebook and Journaling}

Writing and Journaling Tips and Hints {Writing Notebook and Journaling}

COMPUTERS!$%#$@%@
For the last month, I've had the problem of running out of space on my PC. It's from back in 2010, and I've written a great deal and taken thousands upon thousands of photos. Never mind all of my journaling. However, I've taken essentially all of it off of my PC and even all of the nonessential programs and I'm still having issues.

Ugh. It's a writers' and photographers' biggest headache, let me tell you.

I have been able to figure out how to save everything down online, though, so if the computer needs to be dumped, or I need to get a new one, I'm set. My stuff is mostly protected.

So, I'm using my tablet. Thank God for it. It's my Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch, can take it with me everywhere and anywhere tablet that I absolutely adore.

So, yesterday, decided to see if I wanted to pursue one book angle. Using my fancy-smancy online writing programs--and they didn't work! Ugh. Big ugh. Another ugh. Do I need to stress that--UgH! Frown.

I'm trying to avoid apps because I don't want to rely on apps. I would rather be able to access whatever I'm writing and journaling from the web alone. So, online programs, emails, and the cloud is the bomb and fits well into my needs.

However...

But, Penzu.com continues to be my digital/online/cloud journaling and writing rock--thank God. (Bravo Penzu!!! Again, shameless plug. you can get the free version--which is fabulous. Or, you can get a fancier version, the $19 per year version--plus discount at the link in my previous blog post.)

So, a major blessing to count right now is Penzu.com (Blessing 728).

I've decided to do all of my rough draft writing in Penzu.com and be done with it. Period. It saves the hassle and the headache--and I know my work is saved--period. End of story. No worries. No space taken up on my pc, tablet, or external hard drive. Easy-breezy. (Love it. Again, it's a MAJOR blessing. It's noticed--and has been the last couple of weeks, particularly the last couple of days.)

The truth is, I've written hundreds of books, some partials and some full-length books. Learning over the last two months that Penzu is the program to use, I wish I would have figured it out years ago. It would have saved a lot of headache and frustration.

Moreover, I try to save multiple versions of each book as I write it, so I have copyright proof and justification if I ever have to call out copyright infringement on someone, so knowing about Penzu makes all of the difference. I can save as much as I want and not worry about losing my writing. (Whew.)

Why am I writing about this? Because it's a major victory after a string of computer and online frustrations to figure this out and have a solution--once and for all--no matter what computer, tablet, or cell I use--from anywhere in the world and at any time. Yes. This is a major relief.

I say all of this to share with you journalkeepers and writers so you can save yourself the frustration of dealing with all of the problems I have through the years, as well as in the last two weeks in particular.
