Tomorrow is Day 1 of Camp NaNoWriMo

Tomorrow is the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo (Camp National Novel Writing Month)

No. I am not writing a work of fiction or a novel. Rather, I am writing a nonfiction book. It's called,

Prayer Protection: My journey of learning about intercessory prayer, spiritual warfare prayer, watchman prayer, and powerful prayer

I have 15,000 words written already, so my goal is to write a total of 65,000 words at least for that book. Then, if I finish that earlier, I will start another project of the "Learning the who, what, where, when, why, and how of the Bible today series." However, the truth is, I imagine I will make Prayer Protection book a more lengthy one than 65,000 words... Or, I will add a second book to that one. We shall see. It's anyone's guess right now.

NaNoWriMo and Writing Kara's Story

NANOWRIMO

I'm sure you are wondering what NaNoWriMo is... and if you know what it is, you probably wonder why I'm participating, after all, this looks like it is a work of nonfiction. I will answer both questions.

NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month and is a competition where people all around the world have gathered together to write a novel of 50,000 words in one month--and that month is November. I am taking part in this challenge in November, but in truth am starting to write the book now. Whatever my word count is at the end of October, I will add 50,000 words to that as my goal.

It isn't necessary to write fiction for NaNoWriMo; needless to say, I am using NaNoWriMo to write Kara's story. Consequently, between now and the end of November, I will be writing multiple blog posts per day. I will, however, spread them out and publish them for you to see once per day after today (10/12/2015).

"Moments with Kara" is Kara's story and is our story about her.

This is a temporary "book cover" of sorts. I will in time create a real one.

BLOG TO BOOK

Also, it is my goal to turn the blog posts of this blog into a book or two in time. Therefore, this blog will not be the final polished version of this material. Nor will this blog include as much material as the book(s). I just wanted to give you fair warning.

The blog to book posts will be geared for a few different books: a memoir or two, pet journaling (how to pet journal), how to turn your pet journal into a memoir, and pet loss and grief. The posts of this blog will turn into multiple books in time, but right now my main focus is a memoir and inspirational story about our rescued cancer cat, Little Bit. Kara Beara. Lady Kara. Baby Girl. Feisty One.

Over the next month, I will count the blessings of Kara and the faith and life lessons she taught me. So, stay tuned. This is actually the whole purpose of this blog. However, with Thanksgiving coming up, counting the blessings on Kara seems a fitting and appropriate tribute to the black and white purrbox.

CURRENT WRITING PROJECT STATUS

Yesterday I began planning for my NaNoWriMo 2015 novel and I spent several hours working on it. Wouldn't it figure that I spent all that time--only to realize it was for book two of the series? 

Well, the good news is that I have the skeleton of an outline for Book 2, which will save me some time and it helps me to know where I am going in the story so I can stay on track. I did, however, get a quite rough skeleton put together for Book 1 as well. Therefore, it was quite the productive day all in all, even though things didn't quite work out the way I expected. (But, when do they?)

It's about time for me to start my day of planning for book one and getting the outline more detailed. I cannot wait to see what I accomplish today on the project. It's rather captivated me already and it's only day two. In fact, I only slept about three hours last night since I kept planning Book 1 in my head. Now, I just need to get it down on the page and hope I didn't forget anything.

National Novel Writing Month is 24 days away and I hope to be ready to write at least 50,000 words. Truthfully, I hope to get more than that accomplished, but we shall see.

That's National Novel Writing Month {aka NaNo and NaNoWriMo} and is where people from all across the globe are writing 50,000 words of a novel in the month of November.

NANOWRIMO DAY 5

Today is Day 5 of NANOWRIMO.

8,335 is minimum word count due on my novel.

My personal ideal word count is 10,000.

So far, I'm  quite excited for this book and series. I have more ideas than I could possibly get down on the page at this point, which is the direct opposite of writer's block. (Thank God.)

I'm exhausted this morning after being up late watching the elections and getting up early, never mind sleeping poorly. Sigh.

I cannot wait to see what CRAIMORE reveals to me today as I write.

I've participated in NANOWRIMO every year since 2009. I've won it twice and have failed miserably the rest of the time. I think I have a good shot this year with accomplishing my goal. Time will tell.

PERFECT TIMING, PERFECT VISION, PERFECT PLAN

I've been in this tent of my human earthly body for over four decades, as of a couple of weeks ago. I realize my flesh and bones are temporary. God could call me home any day. Hence, I do what I can to live every day as though it were my last. Some days, I am more successful than others, granted. 

These forty years have taught me how God never works according to my timetable. I cannot think of one time He's answered my prayer or done what I wanted, when I wanted. For, He is God--and I most certainly am not. However, looking back, I can say every prayer He didn't answer how I wanted, and every prayer He didn't answer when I wanted, has worked out far better than if it would have been in the manner I preferred. 

Need I mention how many times God has blessed me when I didn't expect it and certainly when I didn't deserve it? God blesses me in immeasurable and innumerable ways each and every day, if only I would stop and pay attention and acknowledge them. 

God has perfect timing. After all, He is perfect, infinite, all-powerful, ever-present, all-knowing. He seems with limitless, perfect vision, while I see with sinful, limited vision. Thank God He is the One in control. He is beyond time, for He created time. This only adds to His perfect vision and timing. 

I've lived four decades and can say without hesitation how God has perfect timing, a perfect plan, and perfect vision. 

Over the last week and four days, God has put two things in my path, at just the right time, in just the right way, and both have been undeniably Him.

The first thing God has allowed in my life is a feral kitten who has adopted us. She is malnourished, deaf, and declawed. She adopted us, and we adopted her, for about eleven days now. She's been in our garage, though, for six days so far.

PRAYER JOURNALING AND CONTEMPLATION QUESTIONS

Prayer journal your response to each of those questions. Write your thoughts now--and keep coming back to these questions consistently over the next twenty-four hours. Kara, my feral kitten (four to five months from what my husband, B, and I can tell) has taught me a great deal about faith. Then, add the Max Lucado email and the question of: Is grace enough for me and my life, and I am forced to stop and analyze things. Never mind how it is the last quarter of the year. Three months are left this year. (As I write this, it's October 01, 2014.)

Hence, I'm going to start writing a new blog post series, which I think I will write during NaNoWriMo (National Novel writing Month, but it will be a non-fiction, Christian living, Bible study, devotional, spiritual memoir type). It's called:

What to Write?

What to Write?

Over the last couple of weeks, I've tried to write several different projects, but nothing has stuck again. (Sigh.) I still wonder what I want to write when I "grow-up." 

I want to write fiction. However, every time I try, I realize it just isn't working. I've done this with contemporary fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and science-fiction. None of this has stuck.

I want to write non-fiction. I've tried to write how-to journal books, about thanksgiving or blessings, how-to write, Bible study devotionals, etc., but none of that was stuck or worked. 

Another sigh. 

So, what do I want to write? 

I've decided a blog post at a time and see if any themes arise. If this happens, and for an extended period of time and multiple blog posts, then I will think I have a winner.

Although, I really want to come up with something to write for NaNoWriMo, even if it's non-fiction. 

I will write a blog post at a time for now and see what develops from there.

My Writing Notebook and Journaling September 18, 2014

I'm being pulled to write a different kind of book. It's part historical fiction and part contemporary fiction. It isn't an idea I would have come up on my own, put of the Blue like this. Not now. But, it has. The idea started to come to me last night and it's grown stronger this morning. 

I had the idea originally a while back and did some research on the subject, and even started to write a book on it, but never did anything with it. I'm not sure why I stopped. 

I just looked up when the idea came to me originally and found it was on September 02, 2013. A year ago. Interesting. 

So, I think I'm going to write it now. 

It will be what I write for National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo or NaNo) in November, but I will start researching it, outlining it, and writing it this week. 

It will without a doubt be a series. 

Oh, I'm so excited!

So, yes. I've begun to focus my sights on NaNoWriMo. (Yep. Excited about that, too.)

Camp NaNoWriMo Day #1: Writing "Simplistic"

Today is the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo and the start of my current writing project.

I need to write at least 1,700 words today so I will have at least 50,000 words of "Simplistic" at the end of Camp NaNoWriMo. My heart starts to race at the thought. It's a nervous excitement.

RYPLS AND LAST NIGHT
"Simplistic" and my new focus and business of Remembering Your Present Life Story had me wound up last night, so I'm living on practically no sleep. (Ugh.) This new focus has grabbed my heart and won't let go. I'm sold on it. I cannot help but get emotional just thinking about it.

EVERYONE SHOULD CAPTURE THEIR STORY
I truly believe everyone should capture their life story, whether it's on the page (written), audio recording, or via video. I think this of every individual, every marriage, every family, and your closest friendships. Think about it. Doesn't your marriage have a Life Story? And, so do the others I just mentioned.
Every story matters.
Every story is important.
Every story has a purpose--for the one whose story it is and for the one who is learning their story.
Every story is sacred.

THOSE WHO SHOULD CAPTURE THEIR LIFE STORY (OR HAVE SOMEONE DO IT FOR THEM)
- Those in a hospice or nursing home
- Those who are dying (cancer, tumor, sickness, etc.)
- Those who have learned some life lessons
- If you have dealt with a struggle
- If you have been blessed
- Parents
- Grandparents
- Married
- Single
- Older
- Younger
- If you've lived a day

Camp NaNoWriMo and Simplified Book

SIMPLIFIED BOOK

This is the first book I'm writing in the How to Tell or Learn a Life Story Series. Note that it's the SIMPLIFIED Version. This will be a book about the basics of writing or making an audio recording of your life story or someone else's. Let's face it. Not everyone is a writer and not everyone is vocal. This book will help either style you are as you tell or learn a life story. 

CAMP NANOWRIMO AND SIMPLIFIED BOOK

I'm participating in CAMP NaNoWriMo in the month of July, where I plan to write 50,000 words of this book during the month. No. It's non-fiction, and isn't a novel, but it's a book and I'm going to sue Camp NaNoWriMo (Camp National Novel Writing Month) to help me stay motivated to write this book--and write it fast. 

I will write this and share with you my stories as I work on writing this book. I will do so on this blog (the one listed below--RYPLS), not on my Writings of SD blog.

CAMP NANOWRIMO, Writing Progress, and Skydoor's Book Description

This changing the idea for a book in the middle of CAMP NANOWRIMO was probably not my best move. But, I felt almost dirty for what I tried to do in writing the Bible story, and the story of the life of Jesus, in a different time and in a different world. I didn't want to write something that was so obvious and intentional about showing I was doing so either.

This now puts pressure on me to write more and write fast.

Yesterday, I lost a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted this book and series to look like, and it's frankly still a little fuzzy, so I didn't even get the daily minimum word count done (which is now 3,000 words per day for the month of April for CAMP NANOWRIMO).

So, today, I need to write 4,000 words minimum, let me add, in order to get caught up. No pressure. However, it's more complicated than that. I will need to spend the rest of the month getting caught up since I changed my story. After all, I have a grand total of 2,000 words so far and need to be at 11,666 in order to reach my goal at the end of this month.

Book and Series Description
Eighteen year old Cecily has just regained her memory, but not all. She really isn't from Earth, USA, Las Vegas in today's year. Rather, she is from another world, in another dimension, and she is the heir to the throne from her land of Cranvor.
Years ago, she, along with her two most trusted protectors and advisers, were sent to Earth to hide. They all took on different ages on Earth in order to hide and blend in and hopefully not be caught by her enemies who searched the universe, and all of its worlds and dimensions, for her. She started over again as a first grader and it was graduation day from high school when she regained her memory.
The one she was matched with to marry one day would find her when it was time, when their world was either most ready for her to take the throne, or most desperate. When he found her, her memories would be regained. He wasn't just her match, but they loved one another deeply. She remembers she was matched with someone, but does not remember him at all, and frankly doesn't really like him now. But, she sure likes her knight and the one least likely. Never mind how Josiah accidentally overhears everything going on and becomes intertwined in this adventure to find the four who are also living on Earth since they, too, were in hiding.
She is to return to Cranvor, but there is a series of things she must do before she can even think of taking the throne. When Wizard Rufus set the three to Earth, he also hid all of the most important relics of the kingdom of Cranvor and the very things she needed to take the throne most successfully. A group of six must go on a quest throughout Cranvor in order to find these relics and take the throne.
As they go on the quest, Cecily learns just how corrupt the crown and nobleman have become, and the desperation of the people to find a way to save them from the darkness of their world. The old ways have been abandoned since they felt everything good had abandoned them. The people did not know what was done to save them.
Several choices have to be made and a quest helps her to regain more memories, figure out a new way to rule, which goes against the history of the kingdom of Cranvor's old nobility. After all, she learned about the world history from Earth and has learned a great deal of what works and what doesn't, what endures and what doesn't, and the best way for the people to live freely and thrive. Hence, Cicely find her way as she establishes a relationship with the five who join her on the quest. She falls in love with her world and all of the people as well.
However, none of this is easy. She has every adversary out there who want to see she fails or dies. The dark of Cranvor have everything to lose when she returns and they sense an uprising.
Also, she has to survive leaving Earth before she can even think about going back to Cranvor.

UGh! (Ugh! UGH! UgH!): A New Idea and CAMP NANOWRIMO

A new book came to me over the last three days.

And, the truth is, MATTHAN seemed a little blasphemous to me. I want to write an epic fantasy that deals with world religions, politics, adventure/quest, treasure hunt, and a love story all rolled into one.

"MATTHAN

THE CHOICE SERIES, BOOK 1"

Think: "Divergent," "The Mortal Instruments," "The Hunger Games," "Twilight," "Legend," and "Wool," meets a man named Jesus and his life, but in a different time and in a different world.

It's a New Adult Dystopian, Christian Fiction, with a little bit of a love story.

This is the story of Myka (female) and how she is to make a choice as to what of the eight belief sects she will devote her life to since she's of age and is the year of requirement (Tilgath) for her to make the Choice. She is part of a group of eight who are also of age, and are to make the Choice, and they travel to each of the eight regions to live life as each of them for 53 days over the course of a year. 
They have four instructors or tutors and are taught how to also act as security for each of the regions while they are there, and are also taught about each of the belief sects.

One of the belief sects is a new one and is one most frowned upon because it is so new. It's the Matthanite belief sect, where they follow Matthan. He is supposed to be the next world leader and there are lots of rumors going around about him, both good and bad. Myka is drawn toward this sect, and in doing so, she risks it all, along with her heart, for the one she has fallen for is against that sect.

What choice will she make?

CAMP NANOWRIMO and Writing Progress

Well... Yesterday was a bad day for writing. Around eleven or so, I hit a walk of exhaustion. It's pollen season here, and I didn't get much sleep the night before, and I became so sleepy and exhausted, I realized something had to give. My concentration was also shot. Therefore, I didn't get much writing done at all. Sigh.
But, there is one lesson (of many, mind you) B, my husband, has taught me:
Be kind to yourself.
So, I moved to the sofa and did what I could do and curled up with a good book. I finished it and half of another. Both were Young Adult Dystopian. Consequently, I fed my muse and was able to rest.
There are days you have to listen to your body and let go of all the things you planned. This is even more true with writing. If I didn't, my writing would have been lackluster at best and that would have made me feel frustrated. Taking a break, even though I am in the middle of a writing deadline, gave me rest, which leads to a fresh perspective.
Last night, I didn't get that much sleep again. Sigh. Just couldn't sleep. So, I am tired today, but my mind is fresh. I have the feeling today will be at least a decent writing day (whew). Already my writing has been a great deal better and I am inspired.

NaNoWriMo

November is NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. Only, for me, it's National Book Writing Month because the book I am writing is Non-Fiction. It's a Christian Living Book.

At any rate, I'm supposed to write 50,000 words in the month of November.

NaNoWriMo Day 6 News and A Revolutionary Change of Perpsective

NEWS

I am sorry for being a stranger on this blog since NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) began on 01 November. I've been writing as much as I can, as fast as I can.

As of this moment, I am sitting at 11,071 words of 50,000 for the NaNoWriMo goal. (My personal goal is more than that.) Yay!

I changed the title of the book one more time. But, this is it. I finally found the perfect title:

A REVOLUTIONARY IDEA:

THROW OUT THE WORD COUNT IDEA

On Saturday, 03 November 2012, I about had a meltdown. The word count was not what I thought it should be. Sure, I met the NaNoWriMo count of 1667 words--no problem. But, I wanted triple that. I wanted to really push myself. I... I-I-I. Me-me-me. Me, myself, and I.

Do you see the problem?

I realized that I became the center of my focus--not the book.

Whoa. This stopped me in my tracks. I realized how:

~ The goal was the center--not the book.

~ A checklist became what was important, not the process of writing. 

This is WRONG. 

I fell into the trap.

I have stopped looking at word count. 

I have a good sense as to how much I am writing--or not writing. I can tell you if it's been a yucky day or a good day. But, the driving force should be the story--not the word count.

I think this new mindset, point-of-view, and perspective have changed my writing life entirely. 

I am actually getting more writing done than before because I have the proper attitude and perspective of the story -not the word count. It takes the stress off. There are great days and bad days with writing. But, they average out to at least a good day over the long-run. There's nothing wrong with that.

Why do I write? It's to tell a story. Period.
