VERSE OF THE DAY FROM http://BibleGateway.com
1 Samuel 16:7 Expanded Bible (EXB) 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t look at ·how handsome Eliab is [his appearance] or ·how tall he is [his height], because I have ·not chosen [rejected] him. God does not see ·the same way [as] people see. People look at ·the outside of a person [appearances; the outward appearance], but the Lord looks ·at [on] the heart.” -- Expanded Bible (EXB). God looks deeper.
1 Samuel 16:7 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW) 7 But the Lord told Samuel, “Don’t look at his appearance or how tall he is, because I have rejected him. God does not see as humans see. Humans look at outward appearances, but the Lord looks into the heart.” -- GOD’S WORD Translation (GW). Copyright © 1995 by God's Word to the Nations. Used by permission of Baker Publishing Group.
God looks at the heart. The heart shows motive. It shows why you do what you do. The heart also reveals who and what we truly believe in and who we are as an individual. If God looks in your heart, what does He see? (Prayer journal your thoughts.)
Matthew 6:19-21 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) 19 “Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. -- Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). What do you value? Look at your schedule, planner, calendar, whatever you call it over the last year? List the top ten things you did the most and put them in order of what you spent your most time doing to the least of those ten items. This list shows who and what you truly value.
Proverbs 4:23 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. -- New American Standard Bible (NASB). Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation.
How do you guard your heart? Do you do it in a healthy way?
Philippians 4:6-7. Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) 6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. -- Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB).
