A PERSONAL BLESSINGS JOURNALING AND END OF YEAR JOURNALING (12.17.2014h.)
I am blessed--no matter what has happened or has not happened. I am blessed. There are no qualifiers or buts. I am highly blessed.
I do not deserve one blessing, yet God has blessed me with an infinite amount of blessings. Unending Blessings. Everlasting Blessings.
A blessing is unmerited or undeserved favor shown to me by God. It's God showing Himself to me. Blessings are gifts given to me that I don't deserve, because I mess up and make mistakes all day long, every single day, yet God loves me enough to bless me anyway.
The year of 2014 has been a tough one at best.
The truth of the matter is the tougher the year, the more I get out of it. The more blessings I am able to count. Tough years are usually the best years--not at the time--NO!--but in hindsight. Tough years are those of growth, maturation, and a change in perspective. They are memory and blessing filled years.
A year ago when I did end of year journaling for 2013, and prepared for 2014, I never would have expected one of these things to happen, let alone all that did in 2014.
Thank God. What a blessing.

B PERSONAL JOURNALING (12.17.2014i.): A PRODUCTIVE DAY SO FAR
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 427 p.m.
After weeks of not getting much journaling or writing done, even with the new version of Penzu, I got more written today than I think I have in a week combined. I have 15 typed pages, 4,984 words written so far of the JOURNALING STUFF book I want to write between now and the end of the year. It's pretty amazing.
I am probably crazy even attempting such a feat, but I believe in journaling so much I cannot imagine doing anything different.
Journaling has never failed me. Not once.

C WHAT JOURNALING MEANS TO ME
(12.17.2014j. and 12.18.2014a.)
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 630 p.m. and December 18, 645 a.m.
What does journaling mean to me? If I were to answer this question, once again every day, I would answer it differently and in the same way.
Journaling makes me appreciate life and count my blessings. It makes me live fully and purposefully. It gives me proper perspective and helps me remember.
Journaling is how I communicate best with God. It forces me to stop, be still, listen, and count my blessings. It helps me see His glory.
There is nothing more rewarding than journaling.

D DON'T WORRY ABOUT GRAMMAR OR YOUR WRITING (A JOURNALING HOW-TO) (12.18.2014b.)
Written December 18, 2014, Thursday, 726 a.m.
THE RULES OF JOURNALING
I mentioned earlier how there are no rules with journaling, except two:
1 Journal every day, preferably throughout the day and night. After all, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.
2 There are no rules.
Well, there are indeed other rules of my thumb regarding journaling. They are more of the never-do variety, though. So, let me mention a couple now.
1 Never fail to journal each day. Journal even one sentence.
That being said, there are times we cannot even do that. So, here is a tip when that happens: For the next few days thereafter, journal longer than you normally do.
2 NEVER worry about grammar, if it makes sense, punctuation, or any writing rules. Throw the out the window.
It is about content and meaning. It is about going deeper, healing, asking questions, remembering, counting blessings, finding joy, exploring, learning, creativity, etc. Do not worry ever about grammar.
Write one word sentences or paragraphs if ya want.
Use slang.
Start and end with a preposition or and.
Do not worry about commas or any other punctuation mark.
Use as many dashes or ellipses or exclamation marks as you desire.
It's okay to be wordy.
It's okay not to make sense.
Babble if you want.
Just capture it on the page.
So, you can remember.
Have fun. Be creative. Explore and experiment.
Just never-do worry about grammar.
Just journal.

E MORNING JOURNALING (12.18.2014c.)
Written December 18, 2014, Thursday, 747 a.m.
The day has started strong. Oh, how it is ripe with opportunity and bursting with blessing.
Thank God for the blessing and gift of today and being able to enjoy Him.
Life is good. Because God is so good.
Even though clouds may be overhead, in weather and because of circumstances, there is still Light shining brightly and it is a Light that is never diminished, for He is Light and He created light. Consequently, there is light and Light at all times, without fail, even if it has dimmed or cannot be seen with our earthly, sinful, finite eyes. This is good.
Journaling helps me look past the dark spots and toward the Light.
When I count my blessings as I journal, it eliminates the dark and murkiness of life and weather. It reminds me to look past the murky parts of the past or the now, and focus on the Light, lessons learned, and the blessings of every dark spot and every moment of Light.
Darkness is only temporary. But, what we tend to overlook is how it is only in the dark that we can see, not just the stars, but the Milky Way. If it was light, we would not ever have such clear vision so we can see the stars and the Milky Way.
Darkness does not equal bad or negative.
Darkness equals a time to stop and look around, to see the Light and the Milky Way.
So, yes. Through the noise of life, through the dark moments, through cancer, dementia, retiring, and moving, there is the Milky Way and the Light. There are blessings we never would have had the opportunity to experience if not for the moments of darkness.
This is what journaling reminds me.

F WAYS TO PAPER JOURNAL OR HAND WRITE A JOURNAL: BLANK BOOKS (JOURNALING HOW-TO)
Written December 18, 2014, Thursday, 812 a.m.
My favorite way to journal is digitally, but I will start here.
How do you paper journal or write by pen?
Let's start with BLANK BOOKS OR JOURNALS.
You have no idea how lucky and blessed you are to live today. Let me explain.
THE HISTORY OF PAPER JOURNALS AND BLANK BOOKS
I have journaled for over thirty-two years now and cannot even begin to share how blessed we are to live at this time. Back in the day, we did not have personal computers. And, few places sold diaries or journals in metro Denver: Hallmark, Current, and The Tattered Cover Bookstore. That was it.
I was a kid and had to save up my allowance to buy them and asked for them for birthday, Christmas, and Valentine's. Any other time, I was at the mercy of mom to take me there, or a friend to take me until I was old enough to drive. (Memories stir and swirl as I share this. Journal entries for later.)
The Tattered Cover Bookstore sold the most and best journals or blank books. (Still do, let me add.) But, it meant a drive of thirty minutes plus. It was there I bought my first and best books on journaling, and I still use them to this day.
Now, let us fast-forward to the year 2001. Journals were a little easier to find, but you still had to look. Barnes and Noble had the cheapest and best. However, a new place started to carry LEATHER journals I could afford, Tuesday Morning.
Then, in 2007-2008, the journaling world exploded and suddenly Target, Wal-Mart, and grocery stores carried journals. Thank God. So, count your blessings this was and is the case.
If cost is a factor, try discount stores and Tuesday Morning for blank books for journaling. Also, go online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
BLANK BOOK WARNINGS
Now, this is where I, being a journalkeeping veteran can impart wisdom so you don't have to learn the hard, often times frustrating and heartbreaking way. Learn vicariously and avoid the pitfalls I will warn you about, for I have been there, done that, have wanted to hit my head on a wall or scream. Let me spare you.
Let me start by saying that this has been my favorite way to journal, when I paper journal, and still is in spite of these warnings.
I need to give you a warning, though, about blank books. THEY FALL APART. Most journal/blank books I have written in, the spine has become loose as I write. No. Expensive ones are not any better, so save your money. The trick is this: white school glue. But, it will need to dry for 24-48 hours. If you choose this type of journal, keep two extras on the shelf at all times so you can continue to journal as the glue dries.
Also, after the glue has dried, make sure to open the cover very slowly and deliberately, the front, then the back. Then, slowly open to the middle. Then, slowly open the book in thirds. Now, you are ready to use it again.
If you fail to do what I say, you can tear the spine or book. Or, it will be so hard in the spine you cannot use it. So, do everything I said, and in that order, and it will hold up and last.
Also, make sure to carry an extra journal with you in case you spill coffee or water on the one you are using and it needs to dry.
Also, carry an extra journal with you because there is nothing more frustrating than being in the middle of a good journal entry and you run out of pages.
Another problem is finding pens to work, not losing the pens, and being in the middle of a major AHA moment when you run out of ink. Carry two pens at least with you at all times, preferably three or more. Trust me.
HOW MANY?
So, how many blank books should you buy at once and how many will you use?
I fill one once every three weeks, and did so when I worked full-time and went to school full-time.I journal more though than anyone else on average.
So, if you haven't journaled before, here is my recommendation. Buy one, but be ready to go back to the store in a week. You need to figure out what kind, size, etc. works for you.
Tip: If you become annoyed with what you are using, then that is not the one to continue using. The act of journaling should never annoy you.
That being said, if one type annoys you now, it may not later. So, be open to it later. But, this time, if you are annoyed with the journal you have chosen, stop using it.
Figuring out what you want to use may take time and experimentation. Be creative and keep trying new and different tools until you figure out what works.
When you figure out what works, always have three on hand. One you are using plus two sitting on the shelf waiting to be used.
PENS
Most of what I said about blank books in the previous section of: HOW MANY applies with pens.
Your favorite pen you use every day may not be what you prefer to use to journal. That being said, start there.
Use only black ink if you don't want the ink to fade of not being able to read it in time. I use black ink and underline and star with fun colors.
Or, if you type up your journal immediately, the color of ink doesn't matter.
If you don't have pens, or want or need to try another, get the smallest pack you can get when starting. See if it works.
Discount stores are the cheapest first. Start there. Wal-Mart and Target.
Office supply store have a larger variety. But, buy small packs. They are the most expensive place to buy pens. If the discount store doesn't have pens you like, try here, in small packs. Then, buy in bulk online. You will save tons of money.
Be careful that the pen does not bleed through the pages. Or, only use one side of the paper if it does. Note that means you will fill that journal in half the time.
Experiment.
How many should you buy when you figure out your favorite pen? Stop buying them in the store. You will pay too much. Instead, buy in bulk and online. Amazon is the best I have found.
I use roughly three pens per blank book.
MISCELLANEOUS
I wanted to give you enough information on this so you can start. I will talk about the positives and negatives later. So, stay tuned.
OTHER WAYS TO PAPER JOURNAL

G DIGITAL JOURNALING (JOURNALING HOW-TO)
Written December 18, 2014, Thursday, 1009 a.m.
Digital journaling is typing your journal on your computer.
There are multiple ways to do digital journaling and multiple ways to save your journaling.
Digital journaling, when done right, can be saved forever and is easy to do. Let me say that in a different way to help make a point: The biggest benefit of digital journaling is your journaling can be saved forever, when done right, and cannot be damaged, stolen, or lost. Also, you can type far quicker than you write by hand.
A DIGITAL JOURNALING 45-DAY CHALLENGE
If the idea of typing up a journal is unappealing to you... Let me issue a challenge. Try it for 45 days straight, without fail. Apply everything you learn below.
If you do this 45 days in a row (re-read that, please, and note how I said 45--days--in a row--without fail), it will grow easier each day and you might come to enjoy it. In fact, I think you will. That is a guarantee.
TOOLS NEEDED FOR DIGITAL JOURNALING
1 A computer, a cell, and/or a tablet computer
2 The Internet
3 Optional, a printer
4 A word processing program
HOW DO YOU DO DIGITAL JOURNALING
What are the different ways to do digital journaling?
A You can email yourself journaling entries
B You can use a word processor
C You can use a journaling app
D You can do online journaling
Now, let me break them down for you.
A EMAIL JOURNALING
Send yourself an email of your journaling entry.
If you keep your email account, it will be saved forever. It's permanent and cannot fade or get damaged.
It is easy to search and find something in your journaling.
You can copy the text and save it in either a word processor or into an online journal.
You can email your journaling entry to your online program, if you use Penzu Pro, for example (my personal favorite). {NOTE: Since I use Penzu Pro, any email I want to save, that could be considered a journaling entry and a memory to save, I blind copy my Penzu journal. So, my online journal includes far more than just me journal entries. If someone sends me an email I want to keep, I respond and blind copy my Penzu email. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I treasure and cherish this feature. I use it several times daily.}
B WORD PROCESSOR
Whatever you use as your word processor is perfect. Use that.
You can use Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Kingsoft, etc. I've tried all of them. They all have their positives and negatives. My favorite is Kingsoft. It's free and is like MS Word.
Make sure to save your journal online and in the Cloud, so it is saved forever. If you just save it to your computer, you can have your computer damaged or the file damaged. So, email it to yourself if nothing else.
You can also copy it and paste it in your online journal.
C JOURNALING APP
I don't like any journaling apps. Try them for yourself.
Journaling apps, on a whole, cannot be used across multiple devices and by synced.
Journaling apps do not allow you to save your entries as a pdf or txt, usually, nor can you email them to yourself.
If anything happens to the device you're using, you lose your material.
I just don't like them.
D ONLINE JOURNAL
A blog is an online journal. There's Blogger and Wordpress, for example.
There are also several online journals. I like Penzu. You can use the free version or the PRO version ($19 a year). Moreover, if you use Pro one year, you can use the free version the next year if you want. You do not have to buy the Pro version every year if you do not want. Also, it has UNLIMITED storage--which is CRITICAL. Penzu has more options than any online journal, is permanent, and is easy to use.
HERE IS A COUPON FOR PENZU
Penzu Online Journal Coupon
Do you want to write your life stories, blessings, and journaling and keep them permanently? I recommend using Penzu for this purpose. Here is a link for a coupon:
Penzu is how I do all of my journaling. It's how I save all of my stories of blessing.
You can do the free version, which is wonderful. I definitely recommend it.
Or, you can do a $19 per year version. It's a little fancier and offers more options. If you use the above link, you get a discount off that price. If you are serious about keeping your legacy of blessings, and want to write as many as possible, this is what I would recommend.
I've journaled for well over three decades and Penzu is the best journal out there.

H WHAT TO DO WITH EVERY JOURNAL ENTRY (A JOURNALING HOW-TO)
Written December 18, 2014, Thursday, 1047 a.m.
My goal, up to this point, has been to help you figure out why and how to journal. I will share a great deal more of those things, but that will come in time. I do not want to hit you with too much information and short-circuit your brain.
Now, let's look at some very important information to include in EVERY journal entry.
But, first... Have I defined a Journal Entry?
A JOURNAL ENTRY IS...
A journal entry is every time you write something in your journal.
It's what you write in your journal.
WHAT TO DO WITH EVERY JOURNAL ENTRY
1 DATE AND TIME STAMP IT
Write the date, day, and time. This is the one fast, hard rule of thumb. Absolutely do this--every time. Without fail. At the time, it may not seem that significant, but alter, when you review and re-read your journals, or if you share them with someone else, this information is sure helpful.
2 WHERE
I also write where I am journaling--if it is different than my normal everyday place. I usually write either in my study or on my sofa. If it is different than that, I take note. This is even more meaningful when I am at a cafe, restaurant, bookstore, in my car because I had to pull over because I got a brilliant thing to write, in my car as I wit between appointments, standing in the grocery store line, on hold with a company I'm calling, at the hospital and why, in a waiting room, etc.
3 ONE SENTENCE SUMMARY
Write an one-sentence summary of your day.
4 COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
Write at least three.
5 WRITE ANYTHING YOU WANT
-------------
I USING JOURNALING PROMPTS AND SOS (JOURNALING HOW-TO)
Written December 18, 2014, Thursday, 1041 a.m.
A journaling prompt or exercise can be quite useful if you are stuck and do not know what to journal, if you want to spice up your journal and add life to it, or just want something different to journal. They are motivational/inspirational and will help you to write/journal.
So, how do you use a journaling prompt?
Read a prompt. If it applies to you, or sounds good to you, use it. If not, skip ahead to the next one.
When you find a journaling prompt that sounds good, and applies to you, then do a SOS (Stream of Consciousness) Writing. This is how you do a SOS: Set a timer for at least ten minutes. Write fast, without stopping, for ten minutes. If you become blocked or do not know what to write, try to either repeat the journaling prompt, write it out, or write, "Don't know what to journal." Write as fast as you can, as much as you can. Don't worry about grammar. Don't worry of it makes sense. Don't worry if it is silly or shallow. The whole point is what arises from the journaling prompt.
As you do your journaling prompt, you may say something that shocks you, or something will jump out at you. Then, set your timer for another ten minutes and use that as your journaling prompt.
The truth of the matter is what you write with every first round of a journaling prompt, you can find at least three more prompts out of that writing. So, do. The prompts that I do this with end up being some of the best journaling I ever do.
Another way you can use a journaling prompt is this: Do your original round. Then, from there, pick one thing that jumps out at you, then do a ten minute SOS from there. Then, from that new and second one, find one prompt and do a third round of SOS. You can keep doing this and doing this and you'll be surprised how much you can journal and how deep you can go because of it. This is when journaling can be quite fun.
I will not lie. Sometimes the first journaling prompt can be as pleasant as pulling perfectly good teeth. It can be quite painful. But, do it. You never know what can arise from it.
Also, later on, when you re-read and review your journaling, you may find treasures you thought were junk at the time. but, through hindsight and experience, and a fresh eye and perspective, and you will find a true gem. Mine it. Use that, then, as a new journaling prompt and SOS.
Journaling prompts, when combined with SOS, are the best tools and trick you can do for deep journaling, provided you do not stop with the first SOS. Keep mining it. Keep doing another journaling prompt and SOS from your original prompt, and then do another and another. Do this today, tomorrow, next week, next month, etc. with that original prompt and SOS. A journaling prompt used today, and the SOS and journaling entry formed from that original SOS, are timeless and can be mined for the rest of your life. Do it. This is more rewarding than I could ever begin to express or describe.

AN EXTRA BLOG POST TODAY: INTRODUCTION TO JOURNALING

I apologize. I am not sure how to do this any other way. I need to include some extra material to help us get started with journaling. So, here it is:
--------------
JOURNALING: AN INTRODUCTION
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 236 p.m.
JOURNALING IS BEING
Journaling is more than something to do.
It's also more than writing.
Rather, journaling, when done correctly is a way of life.
Ask me who I am and I define myself as this: Blessings Counter and Journalkeeper.
I am those--those are not things I do in order to gain an identity. Rather, they define me, just like being a Christ Follower.
What do I do? I count my blessings, journal, write, and blog.
I share these things to stress that journaling is far more about being than doing. It's about quality of life and living life intentionally. Journaling is about Remembering Your Present. It's capturing your life and who you are on the page.
There is nothing more important any of us can do with our lives than journaling (other than being children of God).
Journaling makes us stop, reflect, think, plan, change perspective, analyze, and review our lives.
The more we journal, the better quality of life we live.
Journaling ensures we are not just getting by. It makes sure we are not mindless. Journaling makes us live purposefully and prevents us from taking things for granted.
Journaling is something anyone can do. If you are breathing, can read and write, you can journal. This book is meant to show you how easy journaling can be. It's also to help give you far more material than you will ever necessarily use. The key is you will have all of the material to help you journal if you ever get stuck or do not know what to journal. It's also to help inspire you to go deeper with your journaling through trying new ways to journal and new things to journal about when you do.
Now, let's see what all we can accomplish between now and December 31, 2014. That's fourteen days for me to write an introduction to you about journaling--and I hope these fourteen days will help you start to make journaling a way of life.

Here is the book title of the blog posts to book I plan on creating between now and December 31, 2014:

HOW SHOULD YOU JOURNAL?: THE JOURNALING SECRET (A TIP)
Find a system that works for you today. Keep using it until you get stuck and are not journaling as much, or as deeply as you had in the past, then change your system.
I will not kid. There are times I change my journaling system several times in a day. Sometimes, i change it once a week and other times, I've changed it once a month, once every three months, or more or less. Nevertheless, I have never kept the same system for more. I am constantly trying to find a way to journal better, more creatively, and where I get the most out of it.
This is the beauty of journaling.
It's always changing. Always growing. Always getting better and more meaningful.
So, do not think you have to find a system and stick with it. If you want to, do it. If not, don't.
Journaling is simple. It never needs to be something complicated.
So, how should you journal? There are only four ways to journal:
1 Handwrite
2 Digital (on your computer, tablet, or phone)
3 Audio Record
4 Video
Find whatever works for you and do it. Again, what works for you right now may change. So, change if your journaling ceases, gets stuck, is stagnate, or is shallow.
GET YOUR JOURNAL PREPARED NOW
Do NOT read any further until you prepare your journal for journaling. Figure out how you want to do it, come up with a system, and have it ready.
KNOW THE RULES
There are two rules regarding journaling:
1 Journal as much as you can, every single day. After all, the more you journal, the more you will get out of it.
2 There are no rules other than #1.
So, be flexible and experiment.
That's it. Those are the rules.
HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU JOURNAL?
How much you should journal depends on if you have journaled in the past.
If you have never journaled before, I would start with ten minutes a day, seven days a week. I would do that for one to two weeks. Then, I would add five minutes per day for another week. Then, I would add five more minutes for another week. I would make it my goal to journal at least, bare minimum, of thirty minutes a day, seven days a week. Ideally, it would be an hour each day, with four hours one day per week--or more.
I journal about thirty hours a week and at the very least. Some weeks, it's far more. But, this is what I am and do. It's how I make a living. You do not have to be as journaling obsessed as I am.
When I worked full-time and went to school full-time, I averaged one hour of journaling per day, seven days per week.
May your goal to always be to journal more, never less.
WHAT SHOULD YOU JOURNAL?
What should you journal? Now, that is a very good question. I am very glad you asked.
1 RANDOM, SENSELESS THOUGHTS AND TO DO ITEMS: It never fails. You will sit down to journal and a million other thoughts will go through your mind. So, make sure as you journal if anything like that comes to mind, jot it down in your journal. Even if you are journaling about something else altogether, and the thought is random, write it down. Get it on the page. It's really important if it's something you need to do. Write it down so you can forget about it. The to do item jams up your thoughts. If you put it down on the page, so you can refer to it later, then it frees your mind right now. So, journal. Write down random thoughts, if they come to you, including to do items. Then, make sure to re-read your journaling at the end so you can remember what you thought about and didn't want to forget.
What else should you journal?
2 YOUR DAY'S LOG, SO TO SPEAK: I always put my schedule for the day down in my journaling. I share thoughts, emotions, to dos, what I dids. I write what I have done that day. I make sure to write anything I learned that day, and all memories/experiences I created/lived. This is the shallow journaling at first.
3 SOS JOURNALING (STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS JOURNALING): Take five or ten minutes and journal as fast as you can whatever comes to your mind, no matter how strange it is and even if it makes no sense whatsoever.
4 COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS: Count at least three blessings per day.
5 JOURNALING PROMPT OR EXERCISE: Do a journaling prompt or exercise. I will list several soon, so stay tuned.
6 WHAT DO YOU KEEP THINKING ABOUT? Make sure to write this down.
7 Is something bugging you?
8 Are you hurting about something?
9 ETC./MISC. Anything you want to.
10 This is what this blog and book will answer.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE JOURNALING ENOUGH?
Let's face it. There will be a day here and there where life gets in the way and you simply cannot journal. Whatever your journaling goal is per week, make sure you still meet that goal at the very least. Some days you just won't find a way to squeeze it in. When this happens, how do you feel?
If you feel edgy, like something is missing, and even moody, you have made journaling a habit and are journaling enough. So, keep it up.
If you don't feel edgy or moody for not journaling one day, you aren't journaling enough and may not be going deep enough when you do journal.
This is how you can tell if you are journaling enough.
SET A TIMER
Set a timer when you are trying to either make journaling a habit or when you want to find a way to journal more. Set a timer for your minimum amount of time you want to journal. Make it a fun game to see how much additional journaling you can do after the timer goes off.
I'm not kidding. Set a timer. This will help ensure you journal enough and will help you increase how long you journal each day.
TRY IT
Tag. You're it. Give it a try.
ANOTHER RULE
Have fun with it.
IT'S YOUR TURN
Journal for ten minutes at least.
Go!

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS: IT'S TIME TO COMMIT
I have stopped and asked myself a very important question. What do I want to do every day for the rest of my life? I figured out that answer.
Then, I asked myself another question: How do I want to write professionally right now? I figured out that answer.
Then, I asked myself another question: How do I want to write professionally for the rest of my life? I figured out that answer.
Finally, I asked myself this: If I could write anything at all for the rest of my life, the most ideal writing, what would it be? I figured out that answer as well.
The answer to each was this: Journaling.
Plain and simple.
So what have I done most days since I was eight years old or so (32 years)? I have journaled. Furthermore, what have I done off and on all day long for about thirteen years? I've journaled. And, what have I done more so daily of since July--and more than any other period of time in my life? I have journaled.
Journaling is my way of life.
Blessings Journaling has been my focus for several months he now as well.
So, why have I bothered with anything else?
I am a journalkeeper.
So... This is me, making the commitment... Once and for all. I am a journalkeeper. Period. Any questions? (I just asked myself that question, no one else.)

STILLNESS AND BREATH (12.17.2014b.)
It's 38 degrees and we have thick fog here with some sun rays breaking through the low lying clouds on the ground.
Everything is still right now.
Sure. The dishwasher is making a racket. Harry's tank is trickling in sound. I hear the rush hour of cars driving down our busy street.
Life is in process. It is unfolding all around.
But, in this moment, everything stills. For, I am focusing on this present moment.
Life is always in a rush, without fail. Noise is always trying to break through and interrupt. It screams for attention, like a tantrum of a child. But, I can look past and have this moment. For, I will it. I choose it.
This moment, I cannot control. But, I can control how I react to it.
I choose stillness, even while there is noise.
I choose a time with God, time journaling, time to be still and breathe--just breathe. Slowly breathe. Breathe in stillness. Breathe in this moment to its fullest.
Stillness and breath.
Stillness and journaling as I focus on this present moment. Remembering Your Present. My present, even with and through the noise. Even in a busy life of changes coming. Even with the stress of a demented beagle and a cat living with, and who will die from breast and lung cancer. Claiming this moment, through the noise, to be still, breathe, and be fully present.
Remembering this present moment. Not allowing it to just slip by. Choosing to be still, so I can live, so I can breathe through all the noise. Cuckoo clock. Traffic. Dishwasher. Dementia. Cancer. Preparing. Planning. Retiring. Moving. Starting anew.
Stillness and breath.

PERSONAL JOURNALING (12.17.2014c.): YESTERDAY WAS ONE OF "THOSE" DAYS
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 849 a.m.
I still sit on my sofa, in my pajamas, slowing sipping on my room temperature coffee, snuggled with beagle, listening to the noise of our furnace running, as I journal.
YESTERDAY WAS ONE OF "THOSE" DAYS
Fill in any colorful adjective there in "those." It was a day where everything that could go wrong did. It was one of those, "You can't make this stuff up" days for me.
It was an emotionally charged day.
The day started with a possible goodbye to a life. (Ugh. The tears are welling up as I type this.) On September 21, 2014, an old lady feral, dear, declawed cat adopted B (my husband) and I and has thoroughly stolen our hearts. (Yep. Lady Kara is a thief. A thief of hearts.)
A few weeks ago, we learned she had a mass on her kitty breast. They did a biopsy. Declared it cancer. So, B and I have a cat with breast cancer.
We needed to get her weight up (she was malnourished when she found us--horrendously so) and thyroid under control before they did surgery. Then, she ended up being bulimic, where everything she ate, she purged. So, she has been on an anti-nausea medicine. She finally started gaining weight.
Yesterday, I took Kara to the vet for two surgeries: dental and mass removal. But, first, they would do blood work and X-rays to see if cancer had spread.
Her cancer has metastasized. It is now in her lungs. The bottom part of her lungs.
Ouch. Kick to gut and in the teeth.
We have an incredible vet (and vet team). I cannot underscore that enough. (Thank God for him and the team.) The doc, who has seen Kara every three to four weeks since September said he barely recognized her. She is at a healthy weight and was less angry with them when they worked on her. She was feral and is an old lady, so she can be moody. But, she purred and loved on them for the first time. (She has become a constant lover and purrer, let me add.) He said other than the cancer spreading, she is in incredible health and has a high quality of life. (To God be the glory!) She is a whole different cat, living a life she has never had. One of love and affection. Spoiled, in the best sense of the word.
It could be days, weeks, or months. Don't know.
But, where the lung cancer is, it's in the best spot for her to live longer.
B and I will keep a close eye on her. We will not allow her to suffer. We are now offering her palliative care. We are her hospice, trying to make her as comfortable as possible.
That being said, she is still a terror on four paws. She is like any other normal cat. Today. (Please, Lord...)
So... There was that yesterday. There was more as well.

BLOG TO BOOK (12.17.2014d.)
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 1035 a.m.
This blog is, and will be, jammed pack with all sorts of jewels, if you would only take the time to mine for them. Also, keep in mind that what might jump out at you from this blog in this moment might change in the next moment. Therefore, it's important to read as much of possible of this blog and journal about what does jump out at you.
That being said, I do not know about you, but sometimes I get a great deal out of reading something in a blog post, but I get far more out of it if I read it in a book. Therefore, I will turn this blog into several different books:
1 This blog in its entirety.
2 "JOURNALING STUFF: AN ENORMOUS RESOURCE ON HOW TO JOURNAL"
3 My spiritual memoir
4 Topical books
5 Seasonal books
I hope you will get more out of this blog, but far more importantly, out of journaling because of this plan of blog posts to book formats.
So, stay tuned. There will be a great deal more to come.

PERSONAL JOURNALING: YESTERDAY'S SAGA PART 2 (12.17.2014e.)
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 1125 a.m.
In a previous Personal Journaling blog post and journaling entry I wrote today, I talked about how yesterday was one of "those" days, how "you can't make this up," and how yesterday had several things that went wrong. Well, the saga continues in this journaling entry.
Yesterday, after more things went wrong than what I care to share (it's highly personal, after all), I finally (bold, underline, caps, italicized of 'finally', let me add) was able to sit down, have a moment and write. Thank God! What sweet satisfaction I had as I sat down with my Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch 1st generation, and with my favorite journaling and writing online program. My favorite journaling program is:
Penzu is where I do all of my journaling and writing. All of it. For two years. All of it. I have over 6,715 journal entries, notes, and writings prior to December 11, 2014. I have since added 166 since and will add a great deal more.
Well, yesterday, I opened it, in desperation to runaway for a while to my journal and get some writing down, in an effort to still my emotional and draining, heart-wrenching day. I opened it and it was different. It changed. Without warning.
Was it my tablet? Tried to re-boot. Still changed. Tried a hard restart. Still changed.
It was missing most of the features I have come to depend on. What?!? (There may have been some cursing in my head. Drat.)
Opened it on my laptop. Same. So, not a problem with tablet or laptop. Penzu changed. Upgraded. The features I needed were not there (and still aren't as I type this the next day) B, my husband, called and got a frantic wife on the phone as I tried to figure out now what? What if Penzu was changing to something inferior? Oh, dear. Worry, Anxiety. Everything I am not, was not, supposed to do. But, that was why I journaled. So, I could settle my worry and anxiety--and I could not use it in the way I was accustomed. More worry and anxiety. (Ahh!)
There is NOT a program or app out there with all of the features of Penzu. Let me add.
Hubby talked with me as he drove home from work. He did not follow everything I was trying to tell him. So, I opened Penzu up on my computer and THEN, after over an hour and a half of panic, then a pop-up window appeared. It said they were in the process of making changes. Great. That would have been nice to know a couple of weeks ago, never mind today so I didn't have a nuclear meltdown in my head and heart. (Ugh!)
And, the pop-up said, not a direct quote, but my paraphrase: "You can use the classic version of Penzu," and to hang in there while they added the rest of the features.
Phew.
Whew--and the like.
Where was that before? Where was the warning?
They EXPECT me to pay on time or they cut off my PRO version and move me to the FREE version. But, they did not warn me that there could be a service disruption--when I depend on Penzu for my livelihood (professionally), never mind for my journaling and my sanity. So, pardon me while I am annoyed. They should pay me money or give me a coupon or a couple of month's FREE PRO because of how they are putting me on hold while I wait.
Aggravating.
That being said, IF they would have warned me even three days prior, preferable a couple of weeks before, this would not have been an issue. I could be very patient with them. Even though they expect my money immediately and FAIL to provide me what I pay for immediately--there will be a lag in-between services. That's not right.
But, I will give them this: They have kept classic as a possibility. The new look, I like a great deal more--IF they give me all the features the old one has. And, I will also give them this: They have THE BEST journaling program out there. Period. Hands-down. Without fail.
So, prior to yesterday, I would rate 100 stars out of 10.
Yesterday, 1 or 2 out of 10.
Today, 8 out of 10 as I wait...
Hoping the new version will be a 200 out of 10.
Everyone, use Penzu, even in spite of what I am saying here. I cannot recommend them enough.
I have used Penzu since November 2012 and have NEVER had one issue until yesterday. Their error was lack of advanced warning. But, if they are upgrading and improving, I will gladly wait. I am making due with the new version. If I need, I go to the Classic version, then switch back to the new.
Yesterday was not when I needed this.
I had flashbacks of when I lost ten years of handwritten journaling thanks to movers losing my/our stuff--thanks to this drama/saga yesterday. I still hurt from this. Ouch.
I turned to Penzu because of the moving fiasco.
Then, Penzu showed themselves as unreliable. Temporarily. I think they will make up for it. But, again, advanced warning would have been nice.
It's rather funny. I've dealt with rape, witchcraft, suicide, death, murder, divorce, Columbine, the Aurora Movie Theatre massacre, etc., in my life and in my family, but those, I have dealt with and they hurt only mildly now. The pain is a companion. But, losing ten years of journaling, and journals I have lost, that is what haunts me today and hurts me deeply.
Yesterday stirred up the loss of my journals and journaling ( past and present)...
BUT...
As I had the panic yesterday, and then was relieved later by the pop-up, I had a realization.
See the next Personal Journaling entry.

PERSONAL JOURNALING BLOG POST (12.17.2014f): THE REALIZATION
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 1216 p.m.
THE REALIZATION AND A-HA MOMENT
I have always loved light bulb moments and the moments when the light comes on and I holler out, literally or in my head at least, "A-ha!" Something finally sank in. I finally got something. Comprehension has been grasped.
Last night, I had one of those moments.
Then again, the end of year, beginning of another year, turning forty, retiring, moving, holidays have really made me reflective. It's opened my eyes to something:
I am not supposed to do anything but journal and help coach others with their journaling. Period. End of story. Questions? (Question is for me, by the way. Not you as you read this.)
What matters most to me, apart from the obvious (God and hubby)? Journaling does. And, journaling has for thirty-two years. Journaling has been there for me when no one has been or could be. Journaling is how I communicate with God the best. Journaling is how I write the best and is the most fulfilling.
Why do I keep fighting it and running away from it? Talk about fruitless efforts.
I am highly qualified to teach/coach others to journal.
And, I can turn my journaling into works to inspire others to journal and/or live life more fully, intentionally, and joyfully.
If there was anything I could do 24/7/365 for the rest of my life, it would be journaling.
Needless to say, that's what I am going to do.
Journaling is a way of life.
Welcome to a new chapter in my life... Better late than never.

END OF YEAR JOURNALING FOR 2014 (A JOURNALING HOW-TO AND PROMPT OR EXERCISE) (12.17.2014)
Written December 17, 2014, Wednesday, 1255 p.m.
We have fourteen days left in 2014.
Stop and let that sink in. This year is about to come to a close.
So, here is a question: How do you want to close this year? (Journal your answer.)
You have fourteen days to end this year on a glorious note, regardless of what has happened the other 351 days. So, end 2014 well.
MY PERSONAL END OF YEAR JOURNALING THOUGHTS: COUNTING MY BLESSINGS FOR 2014
How do I want to end 2014?
For me, it is far more important how I am on the inside than what I do. Being matters far more than doing. If I am well on the inside, the outer will follow naturally. Plus, the outer is only temporary. The outer is fickle and doesn't last. The inside stuff lasts and is eternal.
However, with that being said... How do I want to end 2014? I want to go as deeply as possible in my journaling and capture who I am now, what I stand for, what really matters to me, all of my blessings on the page. This is a thing of doing. It is also a thing of being.
I want to count as many blessings as possible between now and December 31, 2014.
This to me is the very best way to end the year and 2014.
IT'S YOUR TURN
Journal about how you want to end 2014.

JOURNALING NEWS AND A COMMITMENT (12.17.2014.)

Welcome to a new era for this old blog.

I am going to focus on journaling, writing my life story, counting my blessings, and sharing journaling how-to information and inspiration (aka Journaling Stuff).

Stay tuned.

DAILY BLOG POSTS
I need to be real and authentic with you. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have a lot to say. I am a babbling brook when it comes to journaling. After all, I am passionate about journaling. Therefore, to help you, I will share one blog post day. But, it will be a long one. I will write several mini posts with a dashed line separation between them. I will put a Table of Contents at the top of the post to help you see what is included.

This is the new plan and is my new commitment--journaling and this blog.

Have a blessed journaling day. Remember your present, capture your life on the page, and count your blessings.
