An Open Window Journaling Exercise or Prompt

When was the last time you sat or stood in front of an open window in your house for a minimum of ten minutes and took it all in and observed?

Did you then journal about what you observed?

Why don't you try this with every window in your house? And, when you journal about your observations, make sure to include all of your senses.

These observations may lead you to a spark to journal about now, or later. I guarantee the latter part. What we observe is a springboard to other journaling ideas. Just keep observing and reviewing all of your journaling and you never know what Journaling Gems you might find to mine.

Cold Coffee, Warm Cat: A Journaling Prompt or Exercise

Sinan, my cat, is snuggling with me on the sofa and I have a warm right hip, but cold coffee. Chuckling as I take this in and enjoy all of it, even the cold coffee. This moment is worthwhile. I do not want to skip it or miss it because of wanting a warm-up.

But, isn't this also indicative of life? We could be living in the middle of a blessing, but may miss it because we focus on the cold coffee--or because of busyness. We focus on the cloud and miss the rainbow, never mind the sunshine in the distance. Never mind that silver lining.

How many blessings do we miss because we fail to stop and appreciate every facet of the moment, not just the perceived good stuff?

I can live with a little cold coffee. I don't want to miss the warmth, beauty, and tenderness of this moment since it also comes with the cold coffee.

Journal your thoughts.

How does this speak to you?

Count your blessings.

The Importance of Journaling About Each Moment

PERSONAL JOURNALING

This moment counts and is my best moment. After all, it is the only one I can control. So, what can I do to live it fully and purposefully? What blessings will I find in this moment?

I can be fully present and aware right now, in this moment.

Blackwing. I see at the bird feeder out back.

I can make sure to take it in with all of my senses.

Four birds at feeder.

Feeder is almost empty.

Finishing my protein shake. Yum. Vanilla Cappuccino.

Also, taking a sip of my room temperature coffee. (Oh, how I miss pods!)

Living fully in this moment requires no regrets or coveting. It means appreciating what and who I have now. It means finding the blessing now, come what may.

A JOURNALING THOUGHT: THIS IS OUT BEST MOMENT

There are many blessings every single moment. Some we realize in the present and some require time and a little hindsight and life experience. With the latter, it requires we remember this moment so we can count all of the blessings then, since, and now. The only way we can do this is through journaling and the review of our journaling.

This is why it is so important to journal every day and to journal about at least three moments of every day so we can keep reflecting back on them and counting the blessings from each moment and learning from these moments.

If we do not journal, how can this moment be our best?

My Personal Journaling on Memorial Day (A Christian Perspective)

I am heavy hearted thinking of those who died for me and my freedom.

Earthly representatives of what Jesus Christ did for me.

They sacrificed their lives so I might live.

Oh, how I take this for granted. I do not mean to, but do.

Shouldn't I live a fuller, more abundant life because of their sacrifice? I do not want their sacrifice to be in vain.

Shouldn't I look at what Jesus Christ did for me in the same manner and live a fuller, more abundant life because of Him and how He died so I can live?

And, isn't this what my journaling offers and helps me achieve?

Thoughts to ponder for a long, long time on this Memorial Day.

Go ahead and journal your thoughts.

Memorial Day: A Journal Prompt or Exercise

Remember those who have served in the U.S. Military and those who have given their lives for your freedom. After all, without their serving, we would have none.

Journal about them, this, and why and how you are grateful.

Count the blessings you have because of them.

Do you know someone who paid the cost? Remember them now. Journal.

If you do not know anyone personally who died, you can still take several moments today to remember, thank God, and journal about what they did for you and how they did it for your freedom.

What do you take for granted about your freedom?

People have given their lives for us and our freedom. This should make us live every moment differently. Shouldn't it?

Remember those families who have lost someone in war. This day is for them. Not for us.

This is Your Best Moment: A Journaling Exercise or Prompt

Journal about this as though it was your voice speaking, "my" and "I."

This moment counts and is my best moment. After all, it is the only one I can control. So, what can I do to live it fully and purposefully? What blessings will I find in this moment?

(Note: And, remember how every moment is sacred.)
