Etc. Etc. Etc. #3: Stormy Days and Sickness

I think stormy days, and those of sickness, are God's way of slowing us down so we are without excuse and have time to be with him.

(Today is one of those for me and the weather report says tomorrow to expect more of the same.)

Book 1

I guess it is about time I told you about Book 1 of the Family Treez of the USA Series. At this point, I must admit I am not sure of the title. I am calling it , A JAMESTOWN LIFE, today. But, who knows if it will stick. I sure do not know at this point. I am rather undecided at this point, I must admit. Here is what I am sure of, though:
Book 1 is about a married couple, Francis and Mary Mason, who make the decision to pick up their lives and move to Jamestown in America in 1613, along with their three year old daughter. They move from Norfolk, England.
Can you imagine taking a trip for two to three months across the ocean to go to the place near the Lost Colony of Roanoke, known for the Starving Time and massacres by the natives?
There were few women and children as well at the time at Jamestown and in the surrounding areas.
I cannot imagine any of that, never mind the stress it would put on a marriage.
Welcome to Book 1 of the FAMILY TREEZ OF THE USA SERIES.
It is about a real, Christian, American family. It is based off of my family.
And I currently live just fifteen minutes from Jamestown and live in Hampton, where they settled. I did not know any of this until a couple of months ago. My husband and I moved to Virginia about 13 months ago. So, I have a really good idea of the setting.
The Masons were not the only family to come to Jamestown. There were also the Tuckers, Arundells, Sherwoods, and Williamsons. This is a little foreshadowing for you and a little teaser of what is to come. Never mind a real-life mail order bride.
See. I peaked your interest now, did I not?

BY THE WAY: The photo above is one I took of Jamestown a few months ago. This is at the archaeological dig. This is where the United States of America began and is where my ancestors tread. (Humbling. Amazing. Awe-inspiring. Mind-boggling.)

Etc. Etc. Etc. #1

Do you ever think of where you came from and whom you came from?

Who were your ancestors?

How have they influenced your life--even if you have no idea who they are? They have, after all.

We are connected with our past==even if we do not know it. Our past shaped who we are today.

Are we to dwell on the past? No. Not at all. But, knowing one's past helps one to live more fully today. We are a product of our past, whether we realize it or not. And, yesterday is proof of this. What we did, or did not do, yesterday shapes who we are and what we do today.

The Bible talks about generational sin and how the sins of our forefathers bear on us today. However, what about the faith of our forefathers? And, how can you lay a foundation of a strong faith today--so the next generations will receive blessing because of your actions today?

Appreciate the past, learn from it, and apply the lessons learned. Learn about your ancestors. They have helped shape who you are. You might even have more in common with them than you ever realized--even if it is your twelfth generation grandmother or grandfather.

Journaling, Writing, Photography, Coffee/Tea, Running, Bible study, prayer, and Digital Scrapbooking

What else can you expect from this blog over time?

Let me tell you more about me. I am a journal keeper. It is an important part of my life and I find it helps me to live and practice my faith. I also am a writer of historical fiction. I love to take photos everywhere I go and throughout my day most days. It is one way I use to journal and remember what I have done and seen. I also love coffee and tea. I am a runner and have a body type where I have to constantly watch what I eat and how much I eat. I enjoy doing and writing Bible studies. I strive to pray without ceasing. And, I do digital scrapbooking.

What do all these things have to do with this blog? You will see each of these elements on this blog--along with thoughts on marriage, beagles, Orange Maine Coons (cats), turtles, patriotism, voting, pro-military, etc.

Mostly, this is my blog about the Family Treez of the USA historical fiction series.

Whenever I write about any of these things, I will add the phrase, 'Etc.Etc. Etc.' to the title so you know it's a miscellaneous blog post.

I will focus on these elements most, however:
~ Historical Fiction
~ Writing a Novel
~ Journal Keeping
~ A Loyal Faith (Bible study and faithful thoughts)
~ Etc. Etc. Etc.

Happy Friday and Relaxing Weekend

First of all, Happy Friday!

Next, I have a serious question for you.

When was the last time you took the day off? Or, let me phrase it another way. When was the last time you took a weekly Sabbath, a day off, so you can refresh, relax, rejuvenate, draw closer to the Lord, and get inspired?

Why don't we make a pact and try to take at least half a day off this weekend? If not this weekend, what about the next?

If we take time off, we have more to offer during the week and can get more accomplished. This is a fact.

Just something to ponder and implement in our lives. (I know I am looking in the mirror as I type.)

Enjoy your weekend and relax!

The Family Treez of the USA Series Information

The Family Treez of the USA Series is a saga of a real, American, Christian family traced from about 1388 to today.

It is based on the concept that: Every family tree intersects--and has a destiny, a story to tell, and a purpose. Every person, family, and lineage.

Welcome

Welcome to my new and final blog (I hope).

I pray this will be my one and only blog with millions of posts in the next fifty years.

I have started this new blog because I thought it was important to have a blog and email address that match the name of my historical fiction series, "FAMILY TREEZ OF THE USA." Except, I simplified it for the purposes of the blog and email address to just 'familytreezusa.' Continuity is a good thing.

As you can see, I am the writer of Historical Fiction.

If you want to be even more specific, I am the writer of Inspirational American Historical Ancestry Romance. This long title describes what I write. Let me break it down for you, so you understand it and it will tell you what to expect from me and this blog.

I am a historical fiction writer.
I write inspirational historical fiction--that focuses on faith in Jesus Christ.
I write American historical fiction to be specific.
I write a series based off of my ancestors--and ask the question "What-If."
I also write romance. It's not erotic. It talks about the tough stuff man and woman go through to get together and stay together. Love is not happy-ever-after--unless both parties of the couple actively, intentionally, daily choose for this to be the case. In other words, love takes work and intentionality--and this is what I write about in the Family Treez of the USA Series.

I hope that gives you a sample of what to expect.

Have a blessed day and a good weekend!
